Severe and chronic foot pain due to 2 botched up surgerys

Posted by mariajean03 @mariajean03, Jul 5, 2023

I've had foot problems due to over use. Then botched up bunion surgery and crossover toes due to a failed capsilitis surgery. undoing those toes would be very complicated. No thanks. Conservative methods have failed but I'm having bigger shoes made. My activities are so limited now. Can't take gabapentin. Feeling hopeless. Can anyone relate?

So sorry to hear of your failed bunion surgery. I had an awful surgery in 2020. Still having periodic pain. Nothing worked: Big toes curved over to the left. Second toe is completely hanging down. Third toe has curved over second toe. The other two are just there. The doctor put it on arthritis. The doctor said it was an unfortunate surgery. I developed neuropathy gradually after the botched surgery. Pray that you have good days in the future.

So sorry to hear all that! Sounds like me. Foot surgeries fail so often. What do you do for the pain? I'm desperate. Maria.

I’m just suffering. Pain medications haven’t worked for me. I do have good days too. I try to walk two miles a day and exercise. This seems to help.

I have zero good days. I can only walk 20 minutes. There has to be some nerve stuff going on too. I do have small fiber neuropathy but can't take Gabapentin. Glad you have good days. Thanks.

Why do bad surgeries cause neuropathy? I have a neuroma also.

I have the same problems from failed foot surgeries—toes overlapping, rubbing on sides of shoes, causing burning sensation, calluses etc. I found out about 40% urea cream for calluses, and that has helped.
I have had so many orthotics and shoes that wear out!! I have to get shoes with a wide toe box, and try to get inexpensive ones, as they wear out quite fast!!!

Now I have 2 dislocated toes with 2 big ligament tears in left foot. Sharp and unrelenting pain. I've been avoiding another surgery for a year! Anybody try regenerative medicine for the pain? I'm in an abusive marriage and can't trust him. Making recovery worse! Gaslighting and mental abuse. Podiatry is very poor in Des Moines. Anybody have any input? Maria.

Because they fiddle with the nerves which can cause neurological problems. I have learnt thru a very bad experience to avoid foot and now I have been told by my specialist back ops as nerve damage could occur. Think twice.

But how can I go on with the unrelenting pain? I'm walking bone on bone. There's not much left. I'll ask her directly about nerve damage! Alone with OCD and depression and ulcerative colitis and now this! Dr. did say I could have some home care come in. Any other comment from the moderator? Thanks. Maria.

Can you walk w/out severe pain? What failed foot surgeries did you have? I've only worn Hoka's for years. Now I can barely wear those my pain is so bad in left foot. I think we have a lot in common. Would love to hear back. Maria.
