Seroquel and stomach issues

Posted by ajmeyer7672 @ajmeyer7672, Dec 10, 2022

I have taken 400 mg Seroquel with 1200mg Lithium for about 12 years now. All of a sudden in the past 2 months when I take the Seroquel within a half an hour my stomach goes wild. My Pdoc and I used a process of elimination to figure out what was causing it and its definitely the Seroquel. I just wanted to reach out and see if anyone had this issue and if you had found a way to deal with it. I take Mylanta an hour after I take my meds, it takes an hour before it somewhat works but I do not think that is sustainable to keep using that long term. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just want to sleep again.

AJ, when you say your "stomach goes wild" what symptoms does this involve?

I get horrible acid reflux. I cant even sleep sitting up its so bad. I cant take any antacid medications for a few hours before and a few hours after because of interactions for both lithium and Seroquel. I do not have reflux any other time of day, just when I take the Seroquel.

Hi there, I have been on Seroquel XR since April, 2022 when discharged from the psychiatric hospital. I was diagnosed bipolar, but actually I have anxiety and obsessions. I have been able to manage titrating down from 300 mg to 150 mg over nine months. I have not had stomach issues, only severe constipation. Now my sleep has been poor for the last week.
