Seronegative spondyloarthropathy

Posted by lairelhighlander @lairelhighlander, 1 day ago

Has anyone else been diagnosed with Seronegative spondyloarthropathy?
They have me on Methotrexate, 4th week. 1-2 days after taking it, feel miserable. Then feel ok. Then feel awful again before i intake it again...
So, roughly days a week I feel good. On my good days, hips feel great, shoulders "tired". On bad days, all major joints hurt...

Welcome @lairelhighlander, There are quite a few members who have posted about having seronegative spondyloarthropathy if you would like to learn what they shared. Here's the search of Connect that shows the comments - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/comments/.

The following NIH article mentions treatment and management options for Seronegative Spondyloarthropathy: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK459356/.

@dadcue, @emo, @yellowfleurs and others may have some suggestions on other medications that may work if the methotrexate is not working well to help with the symptoms. Have you talked with your doctor or rheumatologist about how you are doing with the treatment?

Yes, I was diagnosed with it a few years ago. Methotrexate takes a while to work so it’s not a quick acting drug therapy, unfortunately. Are you taking folate with it every day?

I persevered for about 4 months, but I didn’t feel completely better, so my doctor started adding other biologics with it. We tried Humira, Orencia, and Rituxan, over the years but the one I felt the best on was the newer Cosentyx infusion. If you find that you’re not significantly better soon, try asking about biologics. Good luck 😊
