Serious breathing issues after Covid

Posted by sueann02 @sueann02, Nov 23, 2025

Mild case of Covid Cough Jan. 2024. This turned into SEVERE breathing issues and exhaustion. PCP referred to Pulmonologist. After many tests , Bilateral Diaphragm Paralysis diagnosed. Neurologists (after EMG) say a rare case of ALS starting with Phrenic Nerve/ Diaphragm Paralysis. Cleveland Clinic Long Covid Dr is treating with LDN, NAC and CoQ10.
I am gathering ALL types of previous test results to somehow get a Phone Consult to see if we can get an alternative method of help instead of just Palliative care/ Hospice!! Husband was a very healthy 66 yr. old!
Anyone else have a similar Post Covid story and or ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE???

@sueann02, you and your husband have been on a harrowing journey. Do I understand correctly that he has been diagnosed with ALS?

@sueann02 it sounds like my dad is going through the exact same thing. 6 months ago stiffness and brain fog, now neuromuscular issues impacting diaphragm, extreme fatigue, muscle atrophy, weakness, neuropathy, facilitations, weight loss over 45 pounds.
Doctors can’t diagnose. Initially they thought Parkinson’s but this has progressed way to fast with other non-Parkinson symptoms . The doctors say they’ve never seen anything like this and now keep coming back to ALS, but EMG isn’t strong enough to confirm.

We went to an autoimmune clinic and he showed an increase in the spike protein along with other bacteria’s that cause autoimmune symptoms, inflammation and neuromuscular symptoms. The Spike protein is from the Covid vaccine which he has last December. Reading more about post Covid’s vaccine reactions his symptoms match up perfectly. He’s currently going through a detox for the spike protein along with other alternative treatments (his traditional doctors dismissed this theory).

We are worried we are too late, he’s so de-conditioned and can’t breathe. But doing all we can/know.

If anyone else out there has similar experiences please help.
