Sensitive photos: Normal anatomy or no?

Posted by beats32 @beats32, Nov 2, 2023

I was doing an inspection "down there" today, and noticed that I have what looks like tonsils at the base of my vagina, about 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock positions. They look like some type of gland almost - one on each side, the right one more kidney shaped and larger. Apparently (says my husband), I've always had these and it's never been mentioned to me during any pelvic exam or pap that I've had as being abnormal, I'm just curious what they might be as all of the pictures I look at online don't show anything similar. Thoughts?? 37 year old female, one natural childbirth, occasional UTIs, nothing out of the ordinary.

@beats32, everyone's anatomy looks different. If this is a change for you, it should be examined by a doctor. Have you made an appointment?

I've been dealing with some vaginal discomfort lately, mainly when going to the bathroom. Negative for UTI, yeast, HPV, STDs, last pap was clear. Feels like a paper cut. Waiting on an appointment with a Urogynocologist, but I was inspecting things with a mirror about a month ago and I noticed these gland-like nodules at the base of my vagina. I don't routinely go down there with a mirror, so I'm honestly not sure if I've always had these (hubby says yes) and this is just my anatomy, but I can't find any pictures online that look similar. Just wondering if anyone has seen anything like this, or has similar anatomy. They don't hurt, are healthy looking, haven't changed since I first noticed them, etc. They look like tonsils! I'm 36, one natural childbirth (episiotomy), previous rectocele. Thanks for any input.

I had what felt like paper cuts and were, in fact, where the skin split on my labia. HOWEVER, I am 76 years old. Mine was vaginal atrophy, but you are young for that. My GYN prescribed coconut oil on the exterior of my vagina. It works very well. When you go to the doctor you might ask about that.
