Seeking info about copay assistance program for Humira

Posted by rheumatol3 @rheumatol3, May 24 10:44am

I was recently diagnosed with RA and currently taking Leflunomide. Humira was prescribed and I need prescription assistance for Humira self injectables.

Can anyone advise how long it takes to apply and receive assistance or are there long wait times?

Thanks

Humira (adalimumab) is manufactured by AbbVie. Here is more information about their patient AbbVie medication assistance program https://www.abbvie.com/patients/patient-support/patient-assistance.html

@rheumatol3, you can apply for assistance through the website above. Sometimes they can be challenging to manage, especially when you are not feeling well or dealing with symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. You can look into getting assistance from a social worker. Part of a common request of social work staff is to assist patients with location co-pay assistance programs through pharmaceutical companies or foundations.

Thank you Colleen for the information. I will reach out to find a social worker within the medical system.

I had very efficient help from my specialty pharmacist at the University of.
Chicago working with the Abvee program. They need forms from your rheumatologist and the adjusted gross income figure from your tax form
to fill out the information. Did it over the phone and was approved within
3 weeks. I did call several times and was able to check the progress online.
They assign you to a nurse advisor. I had the option for my first self injection
at home or in the doctors office. At home was no problem in spite of not liking
needles. They did call me with follow up calls for a few months.
They send two doses out every month in a cooler box. I’m on Medicare part D
so I elected to break the $2000 copay in to monthly deductibles.
When I go to my local pharmacy it is nice to hear no charge instead of
calculating deductibles or looking up GoodRX.
