How to Search on Connect - It can help you!

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Dec 14, 2018

Do you know about Connect's Search function? I find it really helpful when I want to find a discussion about a symptom that I have and want to connect with other members with similar health problems.

Have you tried it? If not, I would recommend giving it a test run. It's easy, just click the small magnifying glass icon at the top of the window next to the little notifications bell.

Has it helped you? Let others know!

John

I don’t have a computer at this time. Can I use my IPhone to see a discussion on nerve pain or nerve damage in the mouth after having a tooth removed. A burning pain. Thank you

Welcome @dannasims50 - Yes, you can use your iPhone to see a discussion on nerve pain after you have a tooth removed. I did a quick search by clicking the magnifying glass icon at the top of screen and typing "nerve pain tooth" without the quotes. Here are the search results - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/?search=nerve+pain+tooth if you want to look through the discussions and comments. I didn't see a specific discussion but this discussion sounds like it could be helpful to read through the comments:
--- Mouth pain over a year, no help or end in sight: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/mouth-pain-over-a-year-no-help-or-end-in-sight/.

Have you discussed the nerve pain with your dentist or doctor?

I had starting writing about my problem and had to go back to something else and can’t find my message now. A year ago I had a root canal tooth pulled because it was hurting. After that I started having a burning sensation in my mouth which is still very painful. I have been back to the surgeon and put on medication, but to no avail. I have been to other dentist, specialist, Neurologist, pain management doctor. I am still having the burning in the lower part of my mouth where the tooth was pulled. Any suggestions please.

Hello @peeweesmom and welcome to Mayo Connect. You are asking a good question!

I see that you want to connect with others with alopecia universalis and other symptoms. Here is one way to do that. At the top of the screen, you will see a bar that says "Search." Just type in that search bar the word "alopecia" or any other word(s) and a list will come up wherever that word has been mentioned on Connect.

Give that a try!
