Botox for bladder spasms caused fecal incontinence: advice?
I have had an incomplete C 7-8 sci for over 45 years, so i am well versed in how to take care of myself. About 10 years ago i wore out my shoulders and was nolonger able to do transfers tothe toilet, so 6 years ago i had a suprapubic catheter placed. Two years ago as my bladder shrank i developed bladder spasms that caused incontinence through the port. Medication does not work. My urologist suggested botox. First treatment was verysucessful. Second treatment caused fecal incontinence, resulting in pudding like to liquid stools every time I eat or drink anything. After 20+ years of constipation this is a big change. I risk skin breakdown and can’t leave the house. The urologist told me very quickly it was not the Botox and to call my pcp. It’s been 3 weeks. A stool test came back negative for cliff. What can I do?

What an awful situation for you to have! I'm so sorry! Possibly you should see your primary care doctor like that one doctor suggested. I had Botox for incontinence and it worked good. But I didn't have the side effect of fecal incontinence. However after 9 years of Botox they wouldn't give it anymore and didn't say why. Now at age 80 I just live with it. It almost makes you feel like once you are older, they just don't want to bother with you.
One thing that does help and did help me was prayer. God made you and he can fix you. I'll say a prayer for you also.
I wish you the best.
