Scar tissue after knee replacement
I had knee replacement surgery 6 weeks ago . Through PT I have been working on breaking up the scar tissue only for it to regrow by the time I get back to PT two days later. I have been massaging at home, using a hand held massager and roller. It is painful and swollen. I am getting very disheartened. Any suggestions as to what else I can do. Has anyone had laser treatments to break up scar tissue? Were they effective?

I started PT in the third week and while my therapist was massaging my quads I told him that I wanted to be back on the golf course by the end of the following week. He then proceeded to dig in and while he did so we had an interesting discussion of what it was like for him to train under and be an acolyte of the Marquis de Sade.
BUT it helped and I was back on the golf course on the 27th day after surgery.
I think the therapist massaging the quad area is one of the key parts of TKR recovery.
A good PT exercise for me, to regain ROM, was to lie on my stomach on the table with my surgical leg in a yoga strap and then pull the leg toward me into a folded position as much as I could and hold it for 30 seconds and then repeat two more times. For extension, I would do the opposite -- lie on my stomach and with the yoga strap pull my leg into as straight a position as I could and hold it for 30 seconds and repeat two more times.
