Satisfaction with implant device PROCLAIMXR SCS by Abbott?

Posted by bjk3 @bjk3, Mar 6, 2023

Has anyone had the PROCLAIMXR SCS implanted for treatment of pain stemming from peripheral neuropathy? Does it help with balance, or just pain? Would you have this procedure again?
I have balance issues in addition to neuropathy in my feet and hands. I have been receiving deep tissue laster therapy but I have to pay for it out-of-pocket, whereas the device is covered by insurance. Having the device would allow me to be off medications that cause light-headedness and a kind of out-of-touch sensation but the option of the device scares me. I am taking 3 medications 3 times every day, and while they do have the above-mentioned side effects, they are very effective. My doctor wants me to have the device; I am struggling with the decision whether to have it or not. Thank you for any input or advice!

Does the spinal cord stimulator or your other treatment holp numbness or do you have that issue?

Actually, I opted not to get the spinal cord stimulator. I still have numbness primarily in the feet, but I also now have sensation on the bottom of my feet! 😃 That is something I've been without for several years.
The bottom line is, the only thing my various therapies have not been able to relieve at all is the balance issue. Yes, I still have tingling and numbness but I'm also free of having to have a stimulator regulated, fail, or be removed. My pain meds have pain under control, and deep laser therapy, electromagnetic (Bemer) therapy, chiropractic care, kinesthetic therapy and PT take care of most of the rest. The only out-of-pocket expense is the laser, but it helps enough that I'm willing to pay for its use.
It's puzzling trying to consolidate numbness and sensation together.
Very best to you, Leonard!
