Sacral nerve procedure
19 months after prostate surgery and 9 weeks after sacral nerve implant and little to no improvement in incontinence control. Regardless of the program settings on the remote there is no consistency even after having great success during the test run of the device. During the test run I experienced immediate improvement but with the implant I am on my forth program.
Has anyone moved on to either the sling or AUS having given up on the sacral nerve device? Did you have the device removed or simply turn it off? Is 9 weeks not enough time to find the right setting on the device?
At this point I’ve had 3 good days where leakage is minimal but still dealing with lack of control, countless trips to the bathroom, not able to completely empty, and voiding as much or more than before I had the procedure. So disappointing because the test procedure was so helpful and this is not.

It doesn’t look like you need to remove the sacral nerve implant, It might be a benefit along with getting either an AUS, sling or ProACT . If you’ve had a prostatectomy and may have radiation due to reoccurrence, then you probably want the AUS.
One thing you need to realize is that neither the sling or the ProACT Device works if you’ve had radiation. In that case, the AUS is the only option that really will work. A Mayo Clinic urologist Confirmed that fact, just a couple of months ago during one of their monthly meetings.
I Had an AUS installed on June 4. On July 10, it was activated and I’ve been completely continent since then. There was minimal pain involved, except when sitting down since they open up the perineum and put stitches there. I found a way around that too, So I could sit without pain.
Thanks for the response and congratulations on your success. I am 79 and have had thoughts of just living with the incontinence but I still work some and still regular at the gym and otherwise healthy and can’t stand being this way.

I’m 78 now and will be 79 in a few months.
I’m just tired of not being able to go anywhere for any amount of time without having to worry about leaking through my pad into my underwear. I’ve been wearing black pants for at least the last six years, so that if it does leak, nobody can see it.
I’m looking forward to wearing grey dress pants, have a pair I Haven’t worn in at least six years. Same with blue jeans I wear black ones couldn’t wear blue ones, Now I can.
This is the first time in six years or even more that I’ve been able to wear underwear without a pad and can use the hole in the front to pee.
It is a real life changer. No more having to make sure I’m peeing every two hours.
I can probably echo all that @jeffmarc mentions. I'll be 80 next month. Had an AUS implanted last November. But besides AUS (which was really a positive life changing even) I had an SNS implanted in March for bowel urge incontinence.
I have tried every program available with the device and now have had it turned off for the last 4/6 weeks.
I now need to get with my surgeon to have it removed. It didn't do a thing to help.
I really thought that one of the programs would help but... not to be.
I really regret having it installed.

I had the Axonics first taped to my back in the test stage and it just seemed to work so well and I was so looking forward to doing the implant but had I known it could take months to find the right program (if it ever does) I would not have gone this route. The more I read about the AUS the more I think I should tell my doctor next month that I want it. So glad it has worked for you.
