RSV and flu vaccines and low immunoglobulines

Posted by lilianna @lilianna, Oct 8, 2024

I am still taking MAC antibiotics and want to get the flue and rsv vaccines. My immunoglobulines G and M are below the norm so when I talked to my doctor she said ask an ID doctor. My ID said take them but I am still afraid I would get seriously ill. Has anybody despite taking antibiotics and behaving low immunity was vaccinated and how did you feel. Thank you for sharing

Yes, i was wondering the same thing. My ID, PCP and pulmonologists have no recomendations for taking the vaccines for pnuemonia, flu, RSV . . . . .new MAI diagnois a year ago, on the big three even though i am asymptomatic.

I got my flu, pneumonia and Shingrix vaccines while on antibiotics at the recommendation of my primary and ID docs. The last thing I wanted to worry about was another infection!

Both my pulmonologist and ID doctors recommended all vaccines. I had a flue vaccine in October, in December I got sick with Covid, yesterday I got RSV vaccine. I really don’t want to get another infection. It took me a long time to get back to my “normal” after Covid. Oh I am still taking antibiotics for MAC.

I had flu, RSV, and all COVID vaccines while on the big 3 and antibiotics and I have primary immune deficiency. No problems at all and thankfully haven’t had any of the viruses. The vaccines are worth it.

Please do not be afraid to get the vaccines. I had second thoughts about RSV but they are not live vaccines, my pharmacist explained and you are not going to get the illness from them. The only live vaccine is the flue vaccine administered through nose as aerosol. yes you still can get sick, eg I got covid, but you will survive.
