I have to have infusion of Rituxan for ITP. I’m worried about not getting better. Anyone else have this?

@sonny001 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! I’m glad you found this site. I’m sure other members will respond, but it’s late today. I have had a rituxan infusion but for a different autoimmune disease. Now, 3-4 months after the infusion, I feel so much better! I have so much energy! My next infusion is early August.
Is your concern about rituxan or your on-going health?

Thank you for replying. Pretty much both. I’m feeling a bit depressed right now about the whole thing.

@sonny001 when I had the rituxan, I felt it was no big deal. The nurses are so nice, everyone was laughing, and the nurses brought pillows and blankets. Half of the patients took naps and the rest chatted with whoever brought them. And you can always ask the nurse to run it slowly. That took away some of my anxiety!

And be sure to bring your lunch or a snack!
I just know you can do this!! What can you plan, as a treat, once the infusion is over?

@sonny001 It’s working so far!! Course you really don’t want to ask me today because I’ve gotten one of my new migraines. But the doctor and I are working on it!

I had a great result with Rituximab infusion. It gave me new life. I had it for ITP . I have lupus also. I took 4 infusion end of 2021. After 11 months platelet was down to 10. October 2022 I took again 4 infusion every week. 18 months has passed my platelet is holding very well. Around 150. I feel so much better. If my platelet goes down again I will repeat it. I am very happy with the outcome. I took so many prednisone. I became like zombie. I feel like I am a normal human being again. At least I know what works for me. I am 67 years old. Selina chowdhury

That is so good to hear and so encouraging I'm so tired of taking steroids I do not like them at all and the side effects I do want to do the infusion so it's good to hear from someone with positive feedback
