Risedronate side effects

Has anyone had a side effect of balance problems or dizziness when taking Risedronate? If so, how long after starting it did the symptoms start? Thank you.

Hi there,
I was very, very interested to read your question regarding Risedronate, balance problems and dizziness. It would be good to know if you have had any answers to this, if you have undertaken any research into these problems.
My wife is taking Risedronate 35 mg once a week and has been experiencing these very problems and we are trying to find out if Risedronate is the culprit.
Many thanks in advance

I, too, have been having some balance problems since starting Risedronate once per week. It's like my ankles and legs have weakened despite exercise. I've also had a couple of falls when straightening up after bending over. I've been exploring inner ear imbalance and think that might be contributing to my problem.
I would like to know if any other Risedronate users have experienced these things. Thank you.

I've seen a neurologist , and he was not able to find any cause for my symptoms. So I still don't know if my symptoms are caused or aggravated by the risedronate. I am continuing to take it because I need to take something for my osteoporosis to prevent getting another. compound fracture. Please let me know if you are able to get any answers. Thank you.

Thanks for starting this post on risedronate. I also take it weekly. I haven't had balance problems, but I'm wondering if anyone experiences bilateral joint pain in the knees as a side effect?
Either risedronate or prednisone withdrawal may be causing my joint pain, and I'm trying to figure out the culprit. Nothing concerning on the knee xrays.

@leslie1234

Aren't you ready for a different or a stronger drug if you have had a compound fracture?

I got the compound fracture before I started on the medication. Since I've been on it my bone density is improving.

@oldbones76 How long has your wife been on it? I am also having extreme dizziness but lasts only a few minutes and have double vision once in a while. I am on 35mg weekly. My doctor thinks the dizziness is coming from the crystals in my ears but I am not convinced. This started right after I started taking the drug.

@oldbones76 I have read it is a side effect of this drug. Is your wife still on it? I am going to an encrinologist to see what other medication I can take with less side effects. Unfortunately I think all the osteoporosis drugs have side effects. I will keep you posted
