My mother took it from the age of 70 to 85 years.
She will take it for five years and then a drug holiday for one year.If you are erect for one hour after taking the drug you can definitely protect your esophagus.

Thank you for replying. How long did it take for your mother to get an increase in the Bone Mineal Density? I plan to take the Residronate for 1 year and then have a Dexa scan. The doctor said if by a year there is no increase in the bone density then she will have to switch me to another med. Not looking forward to a change. @dalejandre

We had only one dexa when we started her on it. As her score was very poor we just continued. She had a complication during her pacemaker fixing and became bed ridden. So we stopped. Though she had two falls before that ,fortunately she never broke a bone.
