Rheumatoid arthritis flareup question

Posted by cavalier @cavalier, 14 hours ago

I am currently on a fairly low dose of methotrexate. Was diagnosed with a minor case of RA. My flareups pop-up in different joints maybe once a month maybe once a quarter. Complete stiffness of right or left wrist for about 12 to 14 hours shoulder frozen about 12 to 14 hours. sometimes it’s in my jaw, making chewing difficult for about the same amount of time. Today I woke up with my left hip joint frozen and in pain. I have been training for a half marathon gently and the running hasn’t really hurt until today is the most severe in my left hip. any exercises recommended to push through gently I’m learning you have to move the joint.

RA is typically presented with bilateral joint pain. It doesn't sound like yours is bilateral. What other symptoms are you having? Have you had lab work done? What is your rheumatoid factor or SED rate? It's unfortunate, but a lot of these autoimmune diseases can be tricky to diagnose. Keep working with your rheumatologist, but insist on a comprehensive work up
Good luck
