reverse ileostomy

Does anyone else have a reverse ileostomy (pouch) after Crohn's/colitis surgery? I've had mine for 28 years. Wanting to know what type of diet you have, etc...

@kelscourt Hello and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! I included two discussions from the Cancer Support Group that you might like:

I’m also adding some members who have had reversals. I’m asking @nana120. @pavlina60 @lindaldotson if they would join the discussion.
What made the ileostomy a necessity? Was it cancer or an autoimmune disorder? What are your feelings about having this reversal done?

I had my colon removed due to crohns/colitis. It was never confirmed which one it actually was. After diagnosis I had an ileostomy. 6 months later I had a reversal. I wish I would have never done that! Constant issues vs having an ileostomy and having a better quality of life. I would never recommend a reversal to anyone!
