Restorex Users: Any advice?
So, I'll soon start using a Restorex Device as part of a medical study. Any tips on how to use or make it more comfortable???
My sexual function doctor said I would be an excellent candidate for an ongoing study he is involved with, so I applied and got accepted. Since I'll be in the study, I'll get a free Restorex device, which are stupid expensive.
Candidly, not excited about doing this. But, if it helps prevent fibrosis and shrinkage...then I'm in. I figured if I'm in the study, I'll have to actually do the therapy.
So, for you Restorex users, any good tips?
• Boy, you would need a private place...and seems like that could be super awkward when traveling to visit family.
• Do you all wrap with tape? I think I saw somewhere where some people just wrap the tape over the clamp.
• Does it hurt?

I have been in the study now 7 months. It is really easy. I try to do 30 minutes once or twice a day. Occasionally I miss a day. The easiest one to do is first thing in the morning when I am reading the news and not moving around anyway. It is not painful at all. No need to worry about anything. I think you will be glad that you participated.

4 ReactionsThis is good news! I watched their demonstration video with a 3D virtual penis and when it hit the pinch and the stretch part...it definitely triggered some squirmies. Kind of like when I watched a 3D demonstration of the inflated internal bulb of a catheter and I was like...ummm, that thing is inside you the entire time?
But, nothing to fear. Thanks for the scouting report!!
I hope that you will be still using a pump also since stretching will not do anything for oxidation and blood flow that is so necessary to prevent atrophy and stimulate nerve reparation.

2 ReactionsYes..the Restorex penile traction device works and in my case was prescribed by my Urologist and implant specialist Dr Dashen Patel at UCSD Medical Center in November of 2025 as a 4 month preparatory step for a Coloplast implant. I had lost over an inch in length in the 12 months since prostatectomy and had been diagnosed by a sexual medicine specialist as having severe fibrosis on one side likely due to surgical trauma. Dr Patel recommended penile traction 45 minutes twice a day immediately followed by vacuum erection device usage for 5 to 10 minutes with no rings attached in order to improve penile circulation (as stated by surftohealth). DR Patel had me do this for 4 months to improve SPL (stretched penile length). Each morning I would get up at my usual time of 6:00 AM make coffee and apply the device. I was in a bathrobe and would read the news for 45 minutes and then shower and go to work. No issue at all and no one knew. In the evening I would do my workout, shower, put on my robe, apply the device and do emails for 45 minutes or sit and watch a TV show. No one knew or noticed. I went in for the 45 minute implant procedure in April of this year and because of the 4 months of penile traction, the severe fibrosis I had on one side of the penis had stretched out nicely. Dr Patel was able to fit me with a significantly larger device and I gained back all my lost length and gained a little more girth due to the larger implant.
A couple tips:
Restorex works, but so do others that are less expensive (White Penile Stretcher-Amazon) . The issue is glans comfort as the stretching part is not uncomfortable at all. Some cheaper models use a loop around the glans that can cause chaffing. I discovered that 1 inch diameter silicone worked really well to protect the glans regardless of the stretching device you wear. The silicone sleeves are available on ebay (silicone penis sleeves). I tried cloth and tape once, but found the silicone sleeve easier and more comfortable.
Measuring progress - Get yourself a vacuum device that is transparent and mark "your length" on the outside as a starting point. You will then be able to see progress as you pump things up over the course of the trial. Another option to measure progress is to determine stretched penis length (SPL), use a ruler and press into the skin next to the penis until you hit the pelvic bone. Grasp the glans and firmly pull out and note length. That should increase over time.
Watching for length gain is like watching paint dry! It will not be obvious at first as you do your daily routine. After awhile you will do a double take and realize things are improving. It is the small victories that keep you motivated.
Hope this helps!

Yes, as I suspected the pump is still necessary and thanks so much for sharing your protocol and experience, I am sure that it will help many members here 👍. You have great doctor, BTW 🥇!
Such a rarity nowadays ...

2 ReactionsI am pleased to note the discussion of vacuum erection device (pump) therapy along with the restorex. I bought and used the restorex for a period of time (anyone want it?) but later found the VED much more helpful. Of course, one person's experience is just that! I was not aware of using VED for oxygenation and stretching when I heard about the restorex. I'm not clear how the restorex adds to a good protocol for VED. (I mean cycling up and down, not just pump and hold.)

1 Reaction@surftohealth88 Oh-thanks for that. I think I can still do that and meet the study requirements. I know for a fact that if I was in the control group that did not get the Restorex, that you you are not allowed to use the pump, which I would have real problems with.
Side note: Nerve reparation is already progressing...so i'm hopeful.

1 Reaction@beachflyer This is what I'm talking about-this is incredibly helpful-thank you so much.
Glad that your therapy went so amazingly well. You were in good hands. That was pretty agressive protocol with 45 minutes twice a day plus pump time, but it sounds like it worked.
Also glad that there are more affordable traction devices because the Restorex is crazy expensive. I really don't think I would be doing traction unless I got one for free...but now knowing the Amazon cheapies work, that opens the door for more people.
Ummm...some really strange results come up when you search for "silicone Penis sleeve" on Amazon. Not what i"m looking for for sure.
Wasn't able to actually find what you descirbed as the 1" silicone penis sleeves...don't know if you have a link or not?
Going to follow your tips for sure-so much good information.
@spino I'm no expert, but I think the Restorex is definitely the better vehicle for restoring lost penis length. There's a whole subgroup of men who use traction devices to increase their natural length. In our case, I think the hope is just to regain what we've lost.
I'll add that my sexual function doctor, who looks to be a national expert, very much thinks that the Restorex device is more effective based on all of the studies that have been done using the device. I have no horse in the race...so keeping my options open.
That's very interesting. I would be interested to read more if you can point me to any studies or other written material. I'm now over 4 years out from my RALP.
