Restless legs syndrome upon waking up

Posted by strangecreature @strangecreature, Feb 24 11:49am

When I wake up, my legs hurt and it takes me a while to get up. I have RLS and I have a feeling it's related. What do I do if my parents won't let me take a new medication atm? I don't know what to do and RLS also interferes with my daily life 🙁

Hi;
Is there a doctor you can talk to about your other symptoms and to find out whether this new medication would help?
The doctor would be in the best position to discuss this with your parents.
Otherwise, if you are still in school, is there a counselor or nurse there you can talk with?
Your parents may or may not have good reasons for their refusal and the best person to clarify the issue is a dr. or other knowledgeable person.
This hits a nerve with me because my own parents didn’t get me the psychological help help I needed as a teenager and it really impacted my quality of life.
Please keep us posted.

It’s hard to believe your parents will not let you try a new medication for rls that is unless they know it could be bad for you. Maybe they don’t really know how bad rls is or maybe they know something this new medication you don’t know. Sit down with them and a specialist, explain how bad your rls is. Meet with a Dr. that specializes in rls. You and your parents should go. I myself would try anything with in reason to get rid of my rls. My rls gets worse at night when I’m going to bed. I can’t sleep and when I do manage to go to sleep I wake up in about 3 hours. And awake the rest of the night. I am a left leg AKA. And the rls affects that leg also even though it’s not there, I feel like my leg is still there and it has the same feelings as my right leg. I hope with the help of your parents and a specialist you can find something that helps you, I know how bad it can be but just hang in there and keep trying to cope. If you need to talk to someone go to your parents and get some help coping with your rls. Don’t just hold it in talk to the right person (Doctor) and your parents. Keep on fighting never give up. Rls is bad but you still can have good times in between episodes. Best of luck finding help and God bless.

I've had RLS for many years. The only medication that
helps me is pramipexole 0.5mg (prescription). I take
one tablet every night.

by the way, its not that they won't let me, its just they don't believe its that bad. they're honestly right, but I feel like it would help me get up faster.

I have found that spaying my legs with liquid magnesium alleviates this issue.
The spray is oily and it makes my legs itch - the more they itch the more indication I am low on magnesium
I spray it on - rub it in leave on about 5 to 10 minutes and then shower and get great relief
