Restasis for Dry Eye

Posted by Nancy C @nac1, Dec 27, 2024

My insurance has stopped covering Restasis which is very expensive. The generic is $200 a month. Anyone have a suggestion for a substitute? I also take medication for Glaucoma and eye pressure.

Try Mark Cuban’s Cost Plus or look on Canadian pharmacy sites.

I haven’t checked recently and was surprised to find

My insurance doesn’t cover Restasis either. All these years I have been getting my prescription from the Canadian pharmacy. I just got 90 vials for $127 (Brand name). Generic is cheaper but my doctor doesn’t recommend it

Doesn't recommend Restatis? I suspect you're saying they don't recommend buying from anywhere except US market?

Why does your dr. Not allow? Do the vials come from
Asia? I ordered medications from Canada for many years. Never told my doctor.

What I meant is my Dr. doesn’t recommend Generic. I have told her I ordered through Canadian pharmacy, I only get the Brand name from Allergan.

The doctor doesn’t recommend the generic version.

Here's what at least one citation says about this - "Restasis is a brand-name drug that contains the active drug cyclosporine. This active drug is also available as a generic medication called cyclosporine ophthalmic emulsion. A generic drug is an exact copy of the active drug in a brand-name medication."
