Yeast infections resistant to Diflucan?
I've had a string of infections this year and thinking they have become resistant to Diflucan.
There's a whole bunch of stuff I've tried with no results including, otc creams, boric acid suppositories, rx creams, probiotics, diet.
So looking for anyone who has dealt with this and other oral medications/treatment options.
Am not sexually active, do not have diabetes, wash clothes in hot water, etc.
My gyno said the next step is to culture. I'm just so sick of this.

Hi,
The only thing that works for me is Terconazol. I don't know if you've tried that yet. I know how uncomfortable they are. Hugs
Thanks for the comment. I have not found one cream that works, usually makes it worse. I appreciate you offering what works for you.
Has anyone had an allergic reaction to the Diflucan? I took for about 3 days and started breaking out with hives on my lower stomach and groin area. The doctor gave me Nystatin powder & a cream called triple cream. The itching is driving me crazy!😢
A life changing book for me was The Yeast Connection Handbook by William Crook, MD. He ties in yeast to several diseases. Short read and easy to understand his reasoning. You can buy a used copy on line very cheaply.
I followed the detox and maintenance program protocol. I had positive results after 3 months on the detox program, then I went on his detox program. After months on that I began experimenting and found I could eat gluten and natural sugar as in fruit, about 2 servings a day. The detox is miserable, because I had such success I stayed on it for 3 months instead of recommended 2. I've never been over weight or ate desserts daily, but the detoxing starves your yeast colonies out and while dying they blast your brain with sugar cravings. Your mouth will water, saliva will flood your mouth just looking at a cookie or even thinking of a processed sugar food and that took about 3 years to stop.
Because the program was wildly successful for me I still won't eat processed sugar except for a dessert at Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter. Now after 7 years my tastes have changed and I no longer crave sugar. Not one yeast infection and previously they were chronic. It also eliminated one of my several forms of eczema.
I made up a jingle to help me resist the cravings for foods with processed sugar that I kept in my house for my family; the urge to grab a bite can be overpowering,
"When will you learn, it's going to make you burn. "
Avoiding pain is seriously motivating.
Have you been tested for Allergic Contact Dermatitis, ACD? I can't tolerate some steroids and most creams or lotions because of allergies to the ingredients.
The 5 Day Extended Patch Test might be something for you to check out. For this test you need an allergist or a dermatologist but only go to one that is licensed for the 5 Day Extended Patch Test, not all doctor's are. Google more about this test.
Sadly, no cure for this form of eczema, only avoidance.
@samjackson I had an allergic reaction a couple of years ago to Diflucan and broke out in hives all over. It was awful. I ended up going to urgent care as the gyn I had at the time said benadryl would suffice. It did not. Urgent care gave me prednisone in addition to the benadryl and also had me take pepcid (off label use)which is a histamine blocker( had no idea) . The urgent care dr td me it would take about 6 or 7 days to be fully out of my system. Don't hesitate to call your dr if you are not feeling better with what they prescribed for the hives.
As a veteran to medication allergies I can suggest Allegra 180 for the itch since it is a histamine reaction. It may take a larger dose than on the package to get rid of the itching, hives and rash. Ask your doctor if a larger dose is ok for you. For example: I take three 180 tabs a day for medication allergy every day. Its the only thing that has worked for me.
