Refrigerating Tymlos daily.. quick question
Now that temperatures are climbing where I live, I am going to keep my Tymlos pen stored in the fridge ..
Must I first take it out of the fridge for an hour prior to giving myself the injection each day?

I don't think so. Forteo is always refrigerated and people have no issues with it. Tymlos just has a preservative that allows the pen to be kept at room temperature. You can use it cold, or just leave it out for ten minutes if you want. You'll be fine either way.
Thank you for your reply!!
I doubt it. Once taken out of the refrigerator it can be kept at room temperature. If the temps are going to be extremely hot or fluctuating too much and there's nowhere you can keep it at room temp, you can keep it at refrigerated temp the entire time. I know when I talked to the Tymlos nurse she said if keeping it refrigerated that's fine, but NOT to go back and forth as temperature swings are an issue (room temp then back to refrigerated, etc was not recommended). So, I wouldn't leave it out for an hour before injection as you'd then be swinging the temps too much. You can always contact the company that makes Tymlos to inquire, they were always very helpful when I called with questions.
Good to know. Thanks. I did not know about the temp fluctuating issue..
She did note it was fine to just keep it refrigerated (which I did for one of my pens when I knew it would be getting to hot on my trip), just not to fluctuate it (so if you take it out and go to room temp it should remain that way for the remainder of the pen)
I don’t know if there’s any relativity here, but I left my Tymlos pens out after the first use - my home stays a constant temp year ‘round. However, while on Evenity, my nurses told me that taking the syringes out of the fridge for about half an hour prior to the injection would make them more tolerable. Although I had no adverse reactions to speak of, that one little thing did seem to help.
Cheers!!
I have always kept my Tymlos pens in the refrigerator. I just kept them out long enough to give myself a shot. I only took half a dose, so then could use some of the rest of the medicine in the pen later.
If Tymlos is refrigerated when using it, it is best to let it come to room temperature before injecting. I was told that using the pen when it was cold could cause discomfort when injecting.
In agreement with misst1970. The Pharmacist told me fluctuation was not good with Tymlos. She said best to keep unrefrigerated for the 30 days. However, I live in mild climate.
Hello. I am curious. You mention you are on Evenity and that the nurse told u to remove it from the fridge prior to injecting. Are u saying you inject yourself or the nurse removes it from the fridge at your doctor’s office prior to injecting you? Thanks. Rose 🌹
