PMR - Red Eyes?

Posted by hopeinal @hopeinal, Aug 21, 2023

My eyes have been very red and bloodshot for weeks. Saw my doctor for my regular checkup last Thursday and he prescribed Polymyxin B Sulfate andTrimethoprim Opthalmic solution 4 x daily. But the drops aren’t working. I Googled and read that red eyes can be caused by autoimmune diseases.

Anyone else experienced this?

@hopeinal I haven't experienced this with my occurrences of PMR but I think it could be Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) which can cause vision loss if not treated early. There is another discussion you might want to read here:

Have you told the doctor the eye medications are not working? Do you have a rheumatologist that you can call?

Thanks. I left a voice mail message for my PCP’s nurse. I saw him last Thursday. My first appt with a rheumatologist is the 31st of this month.
