Recurring yeast infections
I deal with right now recurring vaginal yeast infections.
In the years past I've health with chronic uti and chronic bv infections.
I've had three treated this year so far(yeast)
I did take antibiotics for a bv infection, which I also took Diflucan with also, I do this any time I take antibiotics because they always cause yeast.
Treated a month ago, given 3 Diflucan to take every 3 days.
I did feel better.
Yesterday went back to gyno and tested positive for yeast infection.
I am not diabetic. I do not swim or been having sexual activities. No perfumes, lotions or douching. I do not have any stds. I wear loose clothing and typically no underwear. I shower daily with fragrance free bodywash. I use fragrance free detergent and nothing else. I can't eat yogurt because of stomach, dairy issue. I eat pretty healthy.
I've tried creams otc and rx, boric acid suppositories, just about everything.
I do take birth control pills, don't drink or smoke and maybe take antibiotics twice a year.
This gyno said "other" options are very expensive and could culture the yeast but that usually doesn't help much. I want to get another opinion but it's hard where I live.
I've done everything, the diet, the keeping it dry and clean, everything I've known so far.
Anyone with any advice on this would be amazing. Thank you!

I'm taking 10mg. of Jardiance. It does say I could get yeast infections. Its awful. I used the common cream but it came back. I do have an appt. with my PC soon. He'll probably say you should make an appt. with your gyn.

1 ReactionChronic yeast infections can be really frustrating.
From what I am reading, you are on two medications that can cause yeast infections: birth control pills and Jardiance.
Mayo Clinic has information about that at https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/yeast-infection/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20379004
Change one thing at a time to see if something helps. A second opinion is also OK.

2 ReactionsUPDATE- I had a ureaplasma/mycoplasma swab test that was negative.
The yeast culture turned out to be the common type.
I don't have a good dr, she actually left in the middle of all this without telling me.
She said it could be interstitial cystitis, but what does that have to do with Yeast Infections??
Im so down right now. Going to look for a new clinic soon. Just wiped out.
Im not on Jardine. I think that was a different comment from another person.
I actually did stop my birth control, which im hoping will help.
Yes im not sure of that medicine. I would say it would be wise to see a gyno. It's no fun and im sorry you're struggling
My gyno thought the patch would be covered for me if I wanted to try another form.
@celia16 hi! Can you please help me with more information on how to manage your diabetes. I’m type 2 and have chronic yeast infections all the time but I know I have uncontrolled sugar levels I eat very bad and don’t take my medication like insulin and metformin….please encourage me with any experience on how to start to discipline yourself
@mslupitastca , hi, yes I would love to encourage you! Managing blood sugar levels is extremely challenging, imo. I’ve been trying for many years. We do the best we can. Of course, I’m type 1 and can’t really address type 2 treatments, but I’ll share what I do know.
For me, getting care from an Endocrinologist and a primary is important. My Endo has nutritionist in their office, so I can review my diet and confirm my protein, carbs and fats are in the right proportions. A gym membership has been vital for me. Feeling better will encourage you even more.
In my case, one day I got this incredible inspiration. I gained an epiphany while on a retreat to a beautiful mountain/lake resort with friends Something changed inside of me. I listened to music, shared fellowship with longtime friends, enjoyed nature….just felt an incredible internal transformation about my life, health and fitness. When I returned home my life changed….met with doctors, nutritionist, trainers, therapist…….
In about a year, I had lost almost 100 pounds and brought my a1c to good levels. ( 6 range) I give much credit to my insulin pump and cgm.
Some type 2’s take meds like Ozempic which helps them tremendously! I have a friend who takes it and is no longer in the diabetic range. And, she lost a lot of weight too.
Everyone is different, but I feel there are many tools that can help with management. I’d suggest you check the TCOYD website. They offer a lot of info, support and entertainment. Good luck with everything. Please post how you’re doing.
