Recovery help from tumor in appendix, appendicitis, and adhesions

Posted by natalierem @natalierem, Apr 22 1:10am

Hey all, I’m struggling with pain and could use some support.

I had a LEEP surgery 5 months ago which began a daily battle with severe pain in my lower right abdomen. My doctors were stumped on the cause of the pain; and three trips to the energy room, CT scans, ultrasounds, and months of different medications couldn’t solve the mystery either.

One month ago I had laparoscopic surgery and the doctors discovered I had a carcinoid tumor in my appendix, appendicitis, and adhesions on my intestines, liver, and right ovary.

While the pain has decreased, I am still in pain every day. I can’t sit in a chair or walk very far. I can’t drive. I swell and experience intense pain after I eat anything to the point that I need a hydrocodone to stop the pain. I can’t go one day without Advil/Tylenol. My doctors aren’t sure why I’m still in pain because “they fixed the problem.” I’m struggling to know what to do next and I am exhausted. I have an appointment with a gastrointestinal doctor in a few weeks. Any other thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

@natalierem,

Welcome to Connect, hope you find support and suggestion to help.

I did a search to look for other discussions from connect members with similar issues, maybe some of the comments can help. I am glad you are seeing a GI provider to make sure the GI system is not causing the pain.
