RECOMMEND A COLOLRECTAL SUGEON, AND A GASTROENTEROLOGIST

Posted by Joyful1 @joyful1, Aug 16, 2017

I have a mass on my colon, and am in need of a Gastroenterologist or a Colorectal Surgeon to give me a Colonoscopy. Anyone can refer me to any one of them or both? Can someone also tell me for a Colonoscopy is it better to have it done by a Surgeon in case they have to take a biopsy of the mass or perhaps take it out completely or use a Gastroenterologist who only does procedures?

Please respond back a.s.a.p. Thanks!

Don't know if Dr. Ken Wang with Mayo Clinic in Rochester does Colo-rectal surgery but he is a Gastroenterology MD. On a scale of 1 to 10, I rate him a 19, he's that good. Just back from having my esophagus scoped and although I didn't get the news I was hoping for, (they found some Barrett's cells in the Biopsies they took) but no dysplasia, so back in 4 mo instead of 12 mo. Good luck!

I have had lots of studies done at the Strong Memorial Medical Center in Rochester, at The Gastrointestinal Hepatology Cinic there, including colonoscopies, and there are lots of doctors. I can't imagine you wouldn't get im soon. Remember to advocate for your self.

I don't live in Rochester I live in Scottsdale, Az. The Mayo Clinic here is very busy, and want't get me in for months.

Can the dr. who diagnosed the colon mass get you in some where? If you're still looking at a months wait maybe the ER could get you into the system.

Hi @joyful1,

I realize this is stressful, and that you are doing all you can to receive the best possible care. Appointments at Mayo Clinic are prioritized on the basis of medical need.
Here's more information about the Gastroenterology & Hematology division in Mayo Clinic, AZ which may help you narrow down your search:
