Recommended places to stay near Mayo Building, Rochester
Can anyone tell me if Hotel Indigo is a good, clean place to stay? I need to be close to the Mayo Building (Downtown Campus). Or, can you recommend where and where not to stay?
Thank you,
Jared

Hi @jared237, I posted a response I made to another member asking about Hotel Indigo.
At least I think I posted it! I'm using my new Mac Airbook and nothing is normal on this thing!
I stayed there four days at my last 25,000 mile tune-up and was very happy with the location.
The restaurant, Crave, was so good we ate there four days in a row. I still fantasize about the chopped salad with apples.
This hotel is not the closest...but if you have been to the Mayo Clinic before, everything is pretty easy around the area to get to the Clinic. It takes about 5 minutes to use the Skywalk from the Hotel to the entry of the Mayo.
What brings you to the Mayo? When do you plan to go?

Thank you for your prompt response and for the information about the hotel! That's very helpful. I'll be at Mayo in early April, so I need to make reservations for a hotel soon.
Thank you for your time,
Jared

1 Reaction@jared237 you're welcome.
They were very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and had everything you need when traveling. We learned, after we got a shuttle to Rochester airport, that the hotel also has a shuttle. Be sure to ask about it.
And...this building also has residences in it with a separate elevator. We took it by accident. Don't do that...
@karukgirl
Thank you! And thank you for the heads-up about the separate elevator.

I see mixed reviews online about the Kahler Grand Hotel. Any thoughts?
@jared237 ,
It could not be any closer to the Mayo. Literally across the way.
I did go into the Lobby for fun, and I thought it was nice enough. But I didn't see any rooms.
I have heard that there has been remodeling going on over the years and that can be inconvenient if it is during your stay.
One thing to remember, this is a Medical Visit...not a vacation, so basic needs are more important. Is it clean? Close? Walkable? Those are more important than matching bath robes and chocolate chip cookies at night. In my opinion!!!
The Kahler is as close as you can get to Mayo Clinic. And it's a skip and a jump to Chester's. Chester's has THE BEST chicken picatta I've ever had. They call it Minute Chicken I think...
I focus on food a lot it seems 🙂
