Reclast and Tinnitus

Posted by barjcas @barjcas, Jun 7, 2023

Hello, I had a Reclast infusion and 24 hours later I started with Tinnitus. Has anyone else had the same experience?

Oh no!!!! I am so sorry. Please let us know if it improves.

I am already tormented at times by tinnitus and am facing Reclast in July. It is also bad for my kidneys. But a risk of increased tinnitus is really scary.

Thank you!

My endocrinologist says it has nothing to do with the Reclast, but I find it hard to believe that 24 hours, almost exactly, after getting the infusion this started.

On another note, I am a kidney transplant recipient., 10 months ago.

My transplant dr. was able to find that it has happened to other people, but apparently not enough for it to be considered a side effect.

It may not happen to you. If there is an odd side effect I’ll get it.

Best of luck, B

I hope the tinnitus gets better for you. It has for me. I am not sure if the newly louder ringing has decreased or if my brain has gotten used to it, but I have gone from feeling desperate to being okay. Just leery of loud noises!

My tinnitus got worse following a reclast infusion. It hasn't improved and the infusion was 7 months ago.

I am very sorry to hear that your tinnitus has gotten worse after your infusion, was this your first infusion, or a subsequent infusion? I did not suffer from tinnitus before my infusion; I am concerned that if/when I get a second infusion it will get worse than it is already.

Me too! Is this a known side effect?

REPLY

I don’t believe it is listed as a known side effect, at least my endocrinologist says it isn’t.

I just had my first Reclast infusion and I am certain my Tinnitus has gotten worse. This is only 72 hours after the infusion.

Sorry commented in the wrong spot so I erased it.

My tinnitus certainly has worsened in the last 72 hours since my infusion. I was mentally prepared for the aches and flu-like symptoms, but not this. How long did it take to calm down for you folks?
