Recently discovered prediabetic with symptoms
Hi I was recently diagnosed with prediabetes, according to HbA1c of 5.8. I had the test because I had extreme frequency of urination as the weather was getting colder.. I have been overweight almost my entire life (39) but had the glucose tests several times with normal results every time., even 7 months before my last test, HbA1c was 5.3 and jumped now to 5.8. The weird thing is that I started exercising recently and lost some weight (before the last test) and this doesn't make sense. I am looking for any experience with reversing prediabetes without medications. Can anyone help ?

One more thing came to mind. HBA1C is an average over three months. If you just started your lifestyle changes, they may not have had time to take effect.
BTW - There's a wonderful (I think) channel on youtube titled "Nourished By Science" that explains diabetes and metabolic syndrome in a way that is very understandable.
I had prediabetes but got things back under control. The kind of "non-obvious" things that I think worked for me were (1) moving a lot more throughout the day and especially after dinner and (2) wearing a CGM. I had exercised regularly but sat around the rest of the day. Moving more throughout the day seemed to help. The CGM really was a wake-up and showed me the effects of movement on my blood sugar. Helps with compliance. I also identified some foods (Panera Bread Baguettes - my favorite sadly!) that send my blood sugar to the moon. Good luck. There's lots of help out there.
