Recently diagnosed with serous borderline ovarian tumor

Posted by suzieq1980 @suzieq1980, Aug 2, 2025

I was just diagnosed with serous borderline ovarian tumor. Anyone else here with this diagnosis? Feeling a little anxious. I guess it’s better than straight up ovarian cancer but wondering what other people’s experience has been.

Thanks

@suzieq1980 Yes, it's good that you are retired. I had just retired when I was first diagnosed with endometrial cancer in 2019. Not exactly how I envisioned my retirement but I so glad I didn't have to manage work and a work schedule at that time.

You are right on top of everything. These cancer diagnoses and treatments certainly do wake us up to better practices in nutrition, sleep, well-being, etc.

Yes, you will get through this. You said ou are leaning on your faith and I imagine your friends and family?

@naturegirl5 absolutely! I have great support from my family. My hubby is taking good care of me. My son is wonderful and he is married to a nurse practioner. I’m in good hands all the way around. Even with my daughter in laws family, very supportive. I also have long distance support from my sisters on the west coast and my bestie who also in on the west coast, I live in NH.

My primary care physician is awesome. She checks on on me via phone every once in a while (not a telehealth appointment just because she genuinely cares.) I am very blessed with the support I have surrounding me.

@suzieq1980 I was reviewing this thread and realized I did not share my results from my most recent cancer surveillance appointment in early December. I go to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for these appointments. I had a CT of lungs, pelvis and abdomen and a physical exam - complete pelvic exam - with my nurse practitioner in gyn/oncology. The results were all clear - NED (No evidence of disease). Whew. It's now been four years since the recurrence I experienced in 2021.

How is your recovery and how are you feeling?
