raised spot on face - changing rapidly

Posted by ramona11 @ramona11, Nov 11, 2022

This spot on my face has been changing rapidly over the past week or two. I have a lot of seborrheic keratosis on my body, so I thought it was one of those, but now that the dark spot has started to grow, I am not so sure. I have an appointment coming up with my dermatologist and I hope she will remove it. What should I expect with it being this close to my eye, though?

Hi @romana11 Don’t you just love what our skin does as we age?! Not so much… My husband and I both recently had trips to our dermatologist. He had several ‘old age’ spots treated with liquid nitrogen. One very near his eye. He only had to hold a little gauze in place while that one was being taken care of. No harm to any surrounding tissue. After care was just a coating of petroleum jelly until they healed. A friend had a small skin cancer on her eye lid. She was worried too and it turned out to be easily removed with no lingering scar tissue or damage to her lid. Her mole was removed surgically but she said she felt nothing and it was ‘a piece of cake’…her words. 🙂

I wasn’t as lucky and several of mine needed to be removed with a little blade and sent for biopsies. One did turn out to be skin cancer so I had to return for minor surgery. That again was not a big deal and the site is healing nicely.

Your changing ‘blemish’, though near the eye, isn’t anything your dermatologist hasen’t dealt with before. I’m sure you’ll be glad to have this one out of the way. How soon is your appointment?

My appointment is on Tuesday, so not long to wait now. I have had precancerous lesions removed before and I have a ton of moles, so they do keep a close eye on my "spots" - at least once a year. I have had eyelid bumps removed before, too. I am ready to get this one figured out and resolved! Thanks for your help and encouragement. I will return and update this next week.
