RA & Neuropathy treatment

Posted by kayem45 @kayem45, 4 days ago

I have RA and take plaquinel, also have neuropathy and have been prescribed mycophenolate.
I’ve been experiencing breathlessness, fatigue and rapid heart rate,
Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello @kayem45, Welcome to Connect. I did a quick search of Connect but didn't see any members posts that mentioned both Plaquenil and mycophenolate. I did find member posts that mentioned fatigue with both medications if you would like to scan through them while you wait for members with experience to respond.

Have you discussed the symptoms you are experiencing with your doctor?

Great topic. I thought these symptoms were correlated and now I know.

@kayem45

Sounds like heart failure or arrhythmias. I had those symptoms when on mycophenolate alone, at higher dose. At 500 mg per day - only fatigue.

Hi, I have seronegative RA, diffuse Eosinophilic fasciitis, morphea, Reynauds with Crest features. Developed all of this in the last 4 years after having COVID twice. Was fully vaccinated. I’m on both hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) and Mycophenolate mofetil(Cell Cept). So many side effects and very hard to know if symptoms are due to disease processes or medications. Just weaned off Prednisone. Couldn’t tolerate Methotrexate injections or Gabapentin . I had to begin taking Metoprolol due to chest discomfort and irregular heart rhythms, shortness of breath, fatigue . This helped a great deal with cardiac symptoms .
