R-ALA, Why do neurologists not prescribe this medication/supplement?
I have been reading about how R-ALA and its benefits works for peripheral neuropathy. It seems that every article recommends its use.
Why then do practically every neurologist/doctor advise against its use. Am I missing something obvious. I am told it is often prescribed elsewhere e.g. Germany.

I have IBS. I have tried R-ALA multiple times. On each occasion it just raises hell with my gut and GI system. So I have given up on trying to take it. Was never able to take it long enough to se if I got any benefit to my PN
@carmen332 - Some folks have found it easier by starting with a lower dose of R-ALA 100mg vs 600mg twice a day and working their way up to 1200 mg daily. It also helps to eat something when you take it. Some people have also mentioned eating a small piece of a banana when they took the R-ALA. I think they mentioned it took a couple of weeks to get to the full dose.
@magnum52 here’s one study and there are others if you look! https://medisearch.io/share/cwTEMNiRi75UN9fnwE9Bac
