Questions about PVCs

Posted by shancow @shancow, Feb 22 6:08pm

Hi all! So I have been periodically getting PVCs for some time but have only recently been able to catch on a Kardia monitor. But this week, I have had them pretty consistently all week with symptoms. Dizziness, neck pain, nausea…I saw a cardiologist and of course it wasn’t happening but I was able to show the report from Kardia. I’ve never met anyone else that has these issues. I’m a 40 year old female with no heart issues known and healthy by all accounts. But these symptoms have got me down. I’m just wondering- is this normal for those who suffer from PVCs? And how do you manage your symptoms? I’m exhausted and I have no idea when this will pass. Any suggestions or thoughts would be helpful. Thank you.

I have PVC's since 9/2024, What is your percentage? Mine is 24% which is considered high. They usually can't tell you what causes them. I believe they are started at severe times of multiple stressful periods. This past year I had multiple times of severe stress close to one another. Than all of a sudden PVC's. I also have Kardia Mobile, this morning no PVC's, but yesterday PVC's due to some stress. I have my Cardiologist appt this coming week, and I will ask him to suggest what I do, being he knows my heart for the last 20 yrs. Again do you know your percentage? Did you do the 24hr monitor? If your percentage is under 10% they really don't do anything about it surgically, maybe just a prescription.

Not sure this is related, but did you have Covid before this all started? I had Covid in November 2023, and one month later PVCs, and PACs and occasionally AFIB for one solid year, 24-7. And on November 12 of 2024 they disappeared. The cardiac team at Johns Hopkins ran all types of tests and their original diagnosis of "long Covid" was all they could come up with. Turns out it seems they were spot on. I was informed some people have it after COVID for several years, or some just a few weeks.
Best to you and I hope these symptoms subside for you.

Heart arrhythmia issues are a definite possibility post Covid, even if the Covid infection was mild or asymptomatic.

Or from the vax. But after either, it may be necessary to change some habits that you got away with before. If you are consuming ANYTHING with any caffeine, such as coffee, Mountain Dew, colas, chocolate energy drinks etc. And also, are you drinking water? Too much sugar and processed foods?

Probably won’t get better. PVCs are hard to get rid of. I had an ablation and for that type ablation, you have to stay awake to keep heart moving as fast as possible. Most painful procedure I ever had. I’m on a table for 90 minutes, awake while they are burning the inside of my heart to create scar tissue to reroute heart rhythms. I still have PVCs. People can live with PVCs. Everybody is different but make sure you get more than 1 opinion from an EP.

so I’ve def cut back on caffeine. But I am having some. For the most part I eat very healthy. No fast food, mostly home cooked meals. No processed foods. I have to take meds for migraines so that could be a contributing factor but the doctor said not to discontinue those as I could trigger a migraine.

You say you have dizziness, neck pain, nausea…with PVC's. But with no heart issues known and healthy by all accounts. Your statement says you do have heart issues and with the other symptoms does not equal healthy.

I can tell you by personal experience, that caffeine can be the total cause. 1/4 cup of coffee ice cream can set me off. You say you have cut back but having some. That insinuates to me that it is more than a little. And can also be causing your migraines. Are you drinking colas, eating chocolate also? These alone can cause you the PVC's and migraines. I understand they are addictive, but eliminating them can be the difference between a life without migraines and heart beat problems and scary treatments and meds.

I had varying rates of PVC's. I think it was mostly stress related as my brother had died and I'm the executor of his estate. My cardiologist told me to increase Metoprolol. It was 1/2 pill due to having Bradycardia. I am doing relaxation techniques. I'm eating pumpkin seeds and assorted nuts to get Magnesium. My PVC rate went to zero during the last month. I check it twice a day with Kardia Mobile.
