Question about DEXA Scan inaccuracy
If I am 5 ft, 100 lbs, and small boned, is it possible that I don’t have osteoporosis even though my DEXA Scan shows a T-score of -4 in my spine? I had one round of Evenity shots so far. After the DEXA Scan, I had a 24 hour urine test which showed that I was excreting too much calcium in my urine. After adding k2 and magnesium, my test result was at the highest end of normal.

@daylemaples Excellent point. I have tracked my diet for years to ensure I was getting enough calcium and I went back and reviewed my sodium intake. I was shocked to see that I was consuming way more than the recommended amount even with a healthy diet. Now that I have found out that I have hypercalciuria I have eliminated a few sources of sodium that were contributing to my high intake.

You have decided to take MK7 rather than Mk4 or a combination?
I am leaning towards a hybrid method using both MK7 and Mk4, but I am still reading and looking at the research so very interested in your thought process.
MK4 and MK7 are the same thing. AI Assist says this about the difference between MK4 and MK7: "MK4 and MK7 are two forms of vitamin K2 that differ primarily in their half-lives and sources; MK4 has a shorter half-life and is found in animal products, while MK7 has a longer half-life and is derived from fermented foods like natto. This means MK7 can be taken in smaller doses less frequently compared to MK4, which requires more frequent dosing for effectiveness."
The osteoporosis studies I read recommended MenaQ7 as the form of K2.

@crbarefoot In addition to my high blood calcium levels, I also have high parathyroid hormone levels which indicate that one of my parathyroid glands is overactive. Several CT scans found a tumor (benign adenoma) on one of my glands as the cause, but I'm not a candidate for surgery for several reasons I won't get into, so my dr is monitoring me for now.

1 Reaction@daisy17 sounds like your doctor is thorough and managing things well.
@daisy17, I was taking d3, k2, and magnesium with calcium citrate. Then recently, I read that magnesium and calcium should not be taken together since they both compete for absorption in the gut.
@shorty321 I read the same thing so take them separately. Thanks for pointing this out.
following...
I am 5'1 (lost an inch last few years, will be 70) just beginning this journey. I speak to endocrinologist in June.
The drug suggested (Forteo) will cost me over $1,500/month (my co-pay)
The other drug (Evenity) has side effects that scare me. Is there anyone who has built bone with
exercise & nutrition? (or is that a dream?)
