Purpureocillium lilacinum fungus

Posted by blm1007blm1007 @blm1007blm1007, May 6 11:32am

This just showed up on a sputum test result for the first time. It was my early April 2026 sputum.
Has anyone had this come up, Purpureocillium lilacinum.
Found some information on the internet but not much to help me understand what can be done etc. etc.
I am waiting for a response on the MyChart from my doctor, but have not had a reply for over a week. I will again send a message to the Doctor's office.
Not sure what they can do for it, if anything.

When I had something fungus related grow in my sputum, doctor repeated sputum sample twice. Fortunately, both of those cultures were negative. Could be some lab contamination. I'd ask to repeat the culture on fresh sputum.

@scoop Thanks.
Yes I thought of that possibility of a lab contamination or something that just wasn't right.
Yes, I planned to send in again, this week, sputum samples.
Hope you are having an easy day scoop.
