I have had tinnitus in my left ear for 3 months. It is a constant low almost humming. I was diagnosed with Menaires many years ago, but has been under control and not bothered me. I wonder if it is related to my gastric problems. I was diagnosed with IBS in 2008 by Mayo. With occasional meds and diet I have been ok. In December 2024 I started experiencing severe acid reflux and was on PPIs and then Pepsid and very strict with diet with no fat and , sugar, caffeine. Also slept with wedge and no food after 5 pm. It improved after 4 months and started gradually adding back foods. A few months later, I started dry cough at night and bringing up mucus. Bought a mattress topper wedge which helped. That stopped for a few months. Now I started the cough and mucus again which may be due to my adding more foods. I have been on BP and cholesterol meds and very recently low dose thyroid med. I am 82. My concern is whether the acid reflux reached eustation (spelling?) tube in ear and causes the tinnitus or something else. I have appointment for hearing test and can’t get in to ENT doctor till May. Thank you for any information.
