Pulmonologist Referral near North Alabama

Posted by 4slk @4slk, Jul 14, 2023

I live in north alabama and looking for a new pulmonologist. I am new to this forum so haven’t looked around. I am antibiotic resistant but supposedly stable. I have had COVID two times and coughed up blood/clot both times. This is why I am looking for someone that specializes in mac treatment. Thank you

@4slk Welcome to Mayo Connect. I am going to ask our moderator to change the title of your post to include your location. That way you are more likely to find a referral to a doctor accessible to you. It can be difficult to find a specialist in MAC in many area as it is a rare disease.

In the mean time, feel free to browse through our support group discussion and you will find some helpful information.

I am glad to hear that your are stable - it gives you time to find care.

I love Dr. Solomon at UAB. I am so grateful that Linda Esposito recommended him to me. He is patient (I ask so many questions!!) and explains everything well. He studied in Colorado and works on research studies for phage therapy as well. We’re lucky to have him here in Alabama.
I think going to a teaching university is beneficial.

Hi 4slk. I see Dr. Bryan Garcia at Kirkland Clinic (UAB in Birmingham). He is one of the two doctors working in the newly established NTM clinic there. Before seeing him, I had to drive to Emory in Atlanta but that was a blessing because I had not been able to find anyone in my area who was knowledgeable enough to treat me. Now my drive is 1' 15" instead of 3' 30". Best of luck.
