PSA dropped from 15.9 to 5.8 after biopsy. No cancer. How??
I had a 14.9 PSA test, week later had another PSA test of 15.9. Did biopsy 3 weeks later expecting to hear I had prostate caner. Doc said the biopsy came back No Cancer. Now 4 weeks after biopsy, PSA came back at 5.6. How is that even possible?

@rxharleydude Did you have imaging done prior to the biopsy?
I was just going over my last biopsy from September 2025 (FTR, diagnosed with Gleason 8 and prostate removed in January), and that’s something I noticed as well.
Since 2021, when I was first identified as having a PSA above normal, I’ve had it checked regularly, just a few months apart, and it always rose. Every single time. I started at 4.x and by August 2025, was at 9.x.
That’s when the biopsy was ordered and performed (my third one since 2021), and I just noticed a little note at the bottom that my PSA that day was 6.x.
Interesting, and my assumption is someone likely keyed it in wrong, as it steadily climbed between 2021 and 2025.
@doyourresearch
That was a long time ago! I believe I did, but truthfully, I cannot remember for sure.
was your PSA always up at the 15 level as in for years? In my own case, my PSA jumped from 2 to 8.5 and I figured my Gleason 6 was getting worse. The Mayo Clinic doctors said no, that jump was too big in one year and that it was probably prostatitis. They put me on antibiotics and retested me two months later and I was back down to under 2. So your jump could have been something like that unless you were always up at that level.. I will say a prayer all goes well for you.

Are you saying your PSA jumped from 2 to 8.5 in a one year period? How long ago was your Gleason 6 cancer diagnosed? Were you on active surveillance at the time? Other than the jump in PSA, were you experiencing any symptoms from the suspected Prostatitis? Did they run any tests (e.g., urine) to look for infection, or just automatically go to the antibiotic regimen?
Thank you for any insight you can provide.
