Provider Bingo

I was diagnosed with ILC in Feb 2022. Had lumpectomy and radiation at the time. At present, am doing OK. I will have a 6 mo check up in January. My question is in regards to Oncology Providers. It seems the clinic has gone through some growth and transition the past 2 years. I am currently assigned to a 3rd different oncologist since my journey began. Is this typical to experience? I'm starting to wo
rry that some details may be missed, with all the changes! If it is a typical thing, I will figure out how to navigate the system, but it has been stressful!

No, not Mayo! But this experience has certainly made me consider possible other options like Mayo! Thank you for checking.

If you would like to consider transferring care to Mayo Clinic, you can inquire about next steps here: http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63

I'm sure others will have tips to offer regarding being transferred to a different oncologist for every visit and how to navigate the situation. I suggest that you be the squeeky wheel and ask about the frequent switch of providers and your concerns about it. Perhaps your clinic has a Patient Relations or Patient Experience office where you can submit your concern.

If your records are shared in a patient portal, then all the oncologists that see you have access to the same information. It would be good for you to review your records to make sure everything is in order. Does your cancer center use a patient portal?
