Prolia and Evenity Together

Posted by doreenr @doreenr, Mar 4, 2023

Today my Endocrinologist recommended I continue taking Prolia, which I have been on for almost 4 years, along with Evenity for one year. I have severe osteoporosis with many fractures through the years. Has anyone else's doctor recommended taking both together?
Thank you.

I wonder if you didn’t misunderstand. I was told I would be on Evinity for 1 yr . Than switch to Prolia . I don’t think you can have both at the same time. I would check

No but I’ll ask my doctor. Thank you.

No, I did understand as the doctor even drew an outline on how taking Evenity for one year while continue taking Prolia would improve my bones. Seems scary to me to take both at the same time. Will do more research.

It’s pretty extreme but Dr. Leder has done some clinical studies on it. I believe he suggests it for people with significant risk for future fractures. Checkout his presentation on Combined and Sequential Therapies.

Thank you very much for the link. I watched his presentation yesterday and Dr. Leder did not mention taking Prolia and Evenity together as I hoped he might. Confused and feeling fragile.

Most likely because Evenity is so new. Studies are expensive and time consuming.

Yes, I think you're correct. He even mentioned the expense and time in carrying out large scale studies.

The only thing I know is that you have to be on at least one of these drugs or your bones start to get weaker. So if you stop Prolia you have to be on another one and the same goes for Evenity.
