Prolia and Elevated Cholesterol
My cholesterol has been climbing steadily over the last few years and found in researching that the drug Prolia, which I started on right about the same time, can cause high cholesterol. I'm not getting any support from my endocrinologist about this - only that I should go back to my PCP and get statins, which I'm not going to do. She has said that my next Prolia (this week) will be my last and she can put me on Reclast at that time. My questions are, will my cholesterol go back to normal after I go off this drug? Has anyone else had this issue and what did you do to lower your cholesterol BESIDES statins. My doctor's take is she is saving my bones so I should be grateful and just go on another drug for high cholesterol. I'm really scared that I'll be living with high cholesterol forever now.
