I had this surgery two years ago and had no problems, just relief. Sorry to hear that you have not had a good experience with your surgery.

Hello @csues and welcome to Mayo Connect. I'm really sorry to hear of the post-surgery problems you are experiencing. It sounds like a visit to a new doctor might be helpful to you. I would recommend going to a multi-disciplinary medical center, for a second opinion, like Mayo Clinic (a link to appointment information for Mayo Clinic http://mayocl.in/1mtmR63) or a university medical school where you can see what can be done to help you.

Is there a multi-disciplinary medical center near you where you can obtain another opinion?

Hi I'm new to this. I had a complete Colpocleisis vaginal closure surgery on April 24,2024. They shortened my vagina to only 1 inch (ok) put my bladder and rectum back in place (ok). Bleed for 19 days because I had a hematoma that dr would not acknowledge and said my bleeding was normal. Still on iron pills to build my RBC back up to normal range. I had a total prolapse of all my organs. As of today Oct 3, I have been having burning and pain when urinating. We have ruled out a UTI but the dr doesn't seem to want to do anything more for me. Any suggestions or what is life really like after doing this surgery??? Sorry for typos - CSueS

I am trying to decide between the colcopleisis surgery and the sacral one. Anybody with experience recently have any thoughts on this? I am 72. Husband had prostate surgery and we cannot have relations, fyi. Still, I just don't know what to do. I am wearing a cube pessary now, and it's ok.

As someone who also had this surgery, and had great results, I agree. It is miracle surgery.😊

I commented on this last year after having this surgery. I said it was a miracle then and it continues to be. Very little pain, short recovery period, and I would highly recommend it.

I have been very encouraged reading about the outcome of everyone’s Colpocleisis surgery. I had my surgery on January 31, 2024. I am in my ninth week of recovery. One night stay in the hospital & came home with a catheter for about a week after. I also had very little pain. The most concerning part for me was making sure to take the stool softeners as prescribed so as not break the stitches by straining. I am 86 years old and so happy I decided to have the surgery. Being up and about & getting back to my normal life feels wonderful. I hope this will help someone who may be contemplating having this surgery.
Blessings!

I had Copoclesis surgery with a Perrinoraphy on 7 December 2023. Had Bladder infection within 3 days that took 4 courses of antibiotics to clear up. I saw the surgeon yesterday as still in discomfort and not feeling well 8 weeks later. She said it is major surgery and having a bladder infection would not help in recovery it would probably be 12 weeks before stitches were healed and I felt better. Everything seems to be a lot more of a problem than I had expected. I just think I have been very unlucky
