Pressure in the nose/ septum and front teeth that’s causing imbalance
Hi, there -
I have had ongoing issues with an intense pressure around my nose and in particular in the septum, right side of the bridge of nose and even into my front teeth. I have a headache with it maybe 10-20% of the time and it’s always in the same place… at the top of the bridge of the nose and into the right eyebrow.
The pressure affects my eyes, as it hurts to move my eyes and sometimes the pressure establishes in the very outer tips of my cheekbones and in front of my ears.
I have to pop my ears all day long and even through the night due to the pressure in them.
To me, the worst part is struggling with the imbalance constantly because of this pressure. It feels like someone is just pushing me to the side. At times, when I lie down, it feels as though I’m softly rocking on a boat. At its worst, I was dealing with vertigo that seemed to be triggered by position.
One odd thing to note is that I have had spasms in the bridge of my nose with this. A lot of them happened before it really manifested in the fall of 2023 and at times and on rare occasion after.
I’ve seen 8 ents but mostly all say it’s neurological. One ent did perform surgery in 10/2024 and it seems to help 25-30% but the main pressure has remained.
I have seen two neurologists. One said it was sinus and told me he couldn’t diagnose me. One said it was migraines and IIH about 10 months ago. I wasn’t so sure about migraines, as this did not present like a migraine but possibly IIH? I went to an optometrist and they checked my eyes and said my optic nerves were just fine. Therefore, I didn’t follow that neurologists treatment plan for the migraine and IIH DX. He had prescribed Topamax and I really didn’t want to start such a strong med not believing this was the issue.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? I am seeing another neurologist next month and am hoping do answers.
In total it’s been 15.5 months and this has affected my daily life, my job and my mental health a lot.
I am desperate for help and answers.

I have had many of the same symptoms as you described going on about 6 months. Three visits to the ENT with no answers as well. A trip to the ER for a non related issue led to a CT scan of my neck and head suggesting I have a rare condition called Fibromuscular Dysplasia in the carotid artery. This is mainly found in women in their 50’s ( I am 54). I have an appointment with a Neurologist next month. Again the CT suggested I may have this so I have not been diagnosed with this condition yet. I have no idea if this is related to my symptoms or not but hope to get some answers soon.
