Prednisone and Wegovy (or other weight loss medication)

I have not been on either of drugs, so cannot offer advice on combinations. I would definitely check with your provider before starting any new medication. Looks like your have done some research on the combination of the two drugs. Trying to follow Weight Watchers, which has helped me before, but since being treated for an autoimmune disease and being put on prednisone, I’m really struggling.

I meant to put my question under autoimmune diseases, not sure how I got here. I’m thinking when I was searching to see if this question was already asked, it came here and I didn’t realize it. Thank you for your time.

Your actually in both groups. When I saw on Autoimmune group, I asked Moderate to add to this group also. Many members talking about Wegoby. Thought might be someone here who might be on both drugs.

You can always have the Wegovy shipped through the Mayo Clinic Pharmacy Mail Order program. 1-800-445-6326 They have never been out of it during my time on Wegovy. I had been a prednisone short term and Wegovy in 2024, with no issues.

I have been on a low dose of prednisone (5mg) for 5 years now for my autoimmune disorder. I started Wagovy injections for weight loss 3 years ago and switched to Zepbound about a year ago. In 3 years I have lost 31 pounds and I could loose even more if I exercised!

I too am struggling on prednisone and weight gain, let alone weight loss ... I have addison's disease so I am on steroids for life. However sometimes it is increased when I go through an RA flare ... all bets are off on that one with weight gain. The one positive thing I stick with is my yoga ... that saves my sanity at times when I become overwhelmed with all the health issues I have.

My husband was on Semaglutide before beginning prednisone and had lost 25 pounds. Enter Steroids, weight back. Still staying on the weight loss injections because we know that he would have gained more and still may. We have been here before without a weight loss drug and the weight gain was significant (40 lbs), so we are staying on both. They have not interfered with each other. But was hoping the weight gain would be slower. Go for it if your doc says it’s okay. Might save you from gaining another 20lbs.

Ozempic helped me lose the weight I picked up from Prednisone but because of insurance issues I switched to Mounjaro. It’s been slow but seems to finally be kicking in. I’m doing yoga and cardio.
