Postmenopausal bleeding and hyperplasia
Hi. I am 54 yo, 4 years postmenopausal, 1 year on Estrogel plus progesterone.
I had period-like bleeding and an ultrasound showed cystic endometrial hyperplasia - the lining was 7 mm. I stopped HRT and the bleeding stopped (and now hot flashes and insomnia have returned).
It has been a couple of months and I still won't see a gynecologist for a biopsy for 2 more months. I'm concerned that if I do have a malignancy it will advance while I'm waiting. Has anyone been in this position? The stress is really getting to me.

@spicyl Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Waiting is the worst. Who prescribed the Estrogel plus progesterone and then the ordered the ultrasound? Was this your primary care physician or a gynecologist? I'm asking because I cannot discern from what you've written wheter or not you've already seen a gynecologist.
With what you've written here is my suggestion. Unless you can get in with a different gynecologist who can see you sooner you might call the current gynecologist's office and request to be on their waitlist. That way, if there is a cancellation you will get in for the biopsy sooner. If there is a patient portal you could also write a note to the gynecologist and ask them to push for and schedule a biopsy sooner.
Advocate for yourself. That's the theme for many of us here on Connect.
Do any of these suggestions sound like something you could do?
I would call around to different gynecologists to see if you can get a quicker appointment. I’m not sure how quickly gyn malignancies advance but it will definitely help with the anxiety
