Need a hotel near Mayo Rochester to meet special needs post surgery

Posted by KathyPhD_RN @kathylo, Sep 11 10:50am

I am having complex foot surgery on 11/4 at Mayo and will not be able to put any weight on my foot for 14 weeks. We will need to stay near Mayo for almost 3 weeks in order to have sutures removed, put on a cast and accomodate my husband's scheduled MRI. We have been receiving care at Mayo for over 25 years so we are aware of the places near Mayo and usually stay at Kahler Grand because of the connection to the Clinic. However, I am going to need an adjustable bed, adjustable shower head, and overall handicapped accessible accomodations. I have already contacted Anderson Wheelchair about their equipment rentals but I need to know where we can rent? I have already contacted Concierge Services and they were unable to help with who/where I might get the accomodations I need.

I am sorry that Maqyo Concierge was unable to provide you with a solution.

I did find a website with various Rochester lodging options, though it might be an old listing; it gives you some options: https://rochesterlodging.com/dir.htm

Experience Rochester also has a list of hotels and can have some search capabilities:

Would a rehab facility near Mayo best meet your accessibility and furniture needs? Perhaps insurance would cover it plus if you need ADL help there would be trained staff available. They may also be able to arrange specialized transport to Mayo follow up visits.
