Post menopausal hydrosalpinx

Posted by lgrec @lgrec, Mar 5 4:15pm

I’m 52 year old who Had a MRI done on my lower back in Dec…other findings came up like potential right sided hydrosalpinx, abnormal endometrial thickening, left partially septated adnexal cyst 2.5cm etc…I still have irregular bleeding, never had kids, cramping, right sided pain above hipbone and my GYN wants to perform a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy at the end of April. Shouldn’t I have a GYN oncologist look at this first in case I need a full hysterectomy? She said I can’t get an in house biopsy because she couldn’t open my cervix when she tried to put an IUD in recently after taking medication to open me up. Also had a ultrasound last August because I was bleeding while on HRT. Fairly normal except for heterogeneous area in the endocervical canal with multiple echogenic foci. I get that I need to get biopsy…but should I have a actual GYN oncologist look at me first? Should I be worried?

It sounds to me like you have a lot of knowledge about your condition. I’m impressed. Jealous also that I am clueless about my adnexal mass on ovary (5cm). Unless you are certain it is cancer, I would question why jump to the top of ladder? If you trust your physicians… follow suit. My prayers are with you.

Thank you! I’m clueless too. Yes, I got a second opinion and we are going to do a follow up ultrasound (last one was last August) and a biopsy….before the surgery at the end of April. Just want to make sure I don’t need a full hysterectomy…why get 2 surgeries is my opinion. Plus Ineed to find this sooner rather than later. Hopefully you are getting more done for adnexal mass? 5cm is pretty large? Thank you
