Post Covid Long Term Chronic Constipation Like Marbles - Anybody Else?
First - I thank the Lord I found this forum. I knew there had to be others having strange, unexplained issues.
November of 2021, I returned from traveling and 2 days later started experiencing diarrhea. At that time, NOBODY told us diarrhea was associated with Covid or could be only symptom. We now know you can have ONLY gastro symptoms with Covid. I did not have respiratory symptoms other than a slight runny nose. On day 4, I got a very bad headache that lasted for 2 days. And exhaustion at night. Other than that, I felt ok. Diarrhea multiple times throughout the day. On day 13 of diarrhea, I went to an urgent care. The NP looked at me like I was an idiot because I hadn't been tested for Covid. Why would I? Informed me yes, you can present with ONLY diarrhea (who knew!) Said it was too late now, I had already been out and exposed people, and it may or may not show as positive after so many days. So - I never got an official diagnosis other than medical staff telling me "duh, you have Covid...".
Day 14 was my last day with diarrhea. Then 2 weeks of extreme fatigue. AND - I've never had a normal stool again. Just hard round "deer pellets" - like large hard marbles. I do go, but never empty completely, and never a normal stool shape. I have used probiotics for many years, and am otherwise VERY healthy.
Yes, I've tried it all: kimchee, sauerkraut, nuts, vegetables, fruits, high fiber everything, ground flaxseed, chia seed, little to no processed foods, etc. I drink minimum 60 oz water a day. I exercise regularly and am active. It's nothing that I've done or am not eating correctly. And I didn't suddenly get IBS or Crohn's. I 100% believe my intestines were damaged from having intestinal Covid. My biome is broken.
Seeing all of you describing long term symptoms (many so much worse) gives me hope maybe they'll figure this out. It's at least starting to be acknowledged. In the meanwhile, I'm going to keep trying and hoping. If you've found any fixes, I would love to hear.

I have done the tea for a bout a week now...very helpful. I got triphala 1000 MG capsules and took one at bedtime. I'd say for me it worked a bit too well...had abdominal pain/discomfort until the afternoon and lots of BM's. I am thinking a 1/2 capsule....500mg....maybe every other day. Have you ever split the capsule and if so how did you use the contents?
I have only ever gotten the hard tablets. Planetary Herbals. Ingredients are: Chebulic Myrobalan Fruit, Amal Fruit, and Belleric Myrobalan Fruit. 3 kinds of berries. Hoping yours has same ( sometimes called by different names). If you have capsules with granulated powder, do exactly like you said and just take half - I would open capsule and try to put about half into some honey or yogurt on a spoon. I haven’t come across anybody that reacted that way to it. You can also take during day instead of night if that would feel better for you. I hope this helps put you on the road to healing. 🙏
@nlcarl triphala is also available in a tincture form. 👍🏻
Okay, keep an open mind here…I’ve had LC for over 2+ years. During my first year I had terrible constipation and tried, supplements, etc., but nothing gave me any real relief. I was miserable. Someone told me to keep an open mind and at night rub some black castor oil in my naval before going to bed. Being desperate I tried it. After a couple of days, not only was I regular again, I have had the healthiest BMs ever since. I told my doctor (a DO) who said she was aware of this practice, but there was no real science supporting it. I didn’t need a study and “old wives tale” or not, it remains my bedtime ritual. My morning “routine” is actually better than my pre-Covid days. I found my “magic pill”, hope you find yours.

1 Reaction@sisterk hello, I can relate, I will have 3-4 dates with my breakfast or figs. If I need further assistance I will take MiraLax mixed with water at bedtime.
Lastly, if it has not helped and I have had enough of constipation I resort to eating warmed prunes (3-4) mixed with warm prune juice. I use this as my last resort, cause with me it can be very powerful and will keep me home foe a day or two. But it does cleanse my bowels.

Yes- since I had my first Covid infection 3 years ago the constipation got worse every year.
I tried all: prebiotics, probiotics, fibre rich eating, lots of water drinking, acupuncture , blood analysis and supplements according to blood analysis , herbal teas etc.
I also eat totally healthy- no sugar, no cows milk , no wheat products.
BUT nothing helps to get a normal digestion. back and normal working bowels.
The constipation is really really bad and I have a lot of pains in my guts dice this post Covid infection stayed in my bowels/ body .
I do have very bad painful nights with coloumn pains and less sleep and feel weak and nervous a lot.
Anybody has the same problems and found a solution ?

2 Reactions@meike Colon pain and constipation appear to be an indication that it's time for an endo exam by a gastrologist. After 2 years of what I now refer to as 'dart throwing' medicines for my post Covid infections for chronic pain in my upper and lower colon, the anti-biotic and anti fungal 'darts' had destroyed the lining of my upper and lower GI tract. The endo proved the damage and also discovered a very advanced C-Diff.

1 Reaction@pattig09 same for me. No matter what I do, nothing helps the constipation!
I had all the tests and found nothing wrong! ?
Lots of stomach and intestinal pain. I also have GERD and Hiatel hernia.
@pattig09
Thanks for your answer!
I had already endo exams in the last 3 years and "fecal analysis“. Also a MRT examination gave no clue or hint why this is happening in the intestinal system.
I took specific Probiotics to repair the leaky gut situation .
None helped so far.
Special diet helped with a low SIBO Situation .
But the the whole nerves are not working right in the coloumn and so the transport is not working ….
Took also already“ Resolor“ to improve perestaltic ( transport) problem, but I had cramps and did not feel good .
It is really a hard situation with this instestinsl pains.
