Post-cholecystectomy or gallbladder removal surgery
Hi – I had my gallbladder removed 17 years ago and have chronic, sharp back pain behind the port incision. That incision was in my upper left abdominal quadrant; the pain is felt in my back, directly behind the incision. It is thought that I have an adhesion in my upper left quadrant. Is it possible that nerves are trapped and that it causes referred pain in my back? The pain is nauseating and hasn't improved. I have been on anti seizure medication and a pain killer that isn't a percocet-type medication. I am curious if anyone else has persistent pain in their back following gallbladder surgery. If so, how is your pain treated.

1 Reactionhi-- i had an ileostomy in january, 2018. it was reversed in may, 2018. I've had uncontrollable diarrhea for a long time. i take diphenoxylate atropine about 3 x a day. but I still have diarrhea .

1 ReactionAsk your doctor about cholestraymine. You need a prescription....I had the bowel problem. Too. Was afraid to go out. I found this drug on my own and doctor said he would give me it. Took 2 packs a day mixed with water or orange juice along with a flora probiotic, then took one a day and viola it stopped. Never came back. Try it Hope it works fir you!
@lucky1038 I did not have an ileostomy but have had diarrhea for 4 years and also took 8 diphenoxylate a day and still had diarrhea. Went to Mayo in July and had an endoscopy and sigmoidascope. Found I have microscopic colitis and they put me on Budesonide. Been taking as prescribed for 8 weeks w/2 to left and now have normal stools.

1 ReactionNancy, my husband was given this drug but only took it 5 or 6 days and was discouraged and stopped it. How long did you take two packets a day? One packet?
Suzanne glad to hear you have your problem solved. Are you on a special diet or do you avoid certain foods? And also will you be on Budesonide for ever?

1 ReactionHi there, I don’t remember now, all,I can tell you was that i took 2 packets for about a week then one and took flora urgent care probiotic also. What I do know is that I took an entire box as I have one box left. It does not taste very good and I was about to quit too. I think that is when I switched to one packet a day. Sorry I can’t remember but it was over a year ago. Also it can yellow your teeth so rinse your mouth good. Maybe it doesn’t work for everyone but 5 or 6 days is not really enough for anything to really work. I took it as I had my gullbladder out and about 6 months later started with diarrhea. I wish it would work for you as I don’t wish that problem on anyone. Let me know if you try again. Don’t forget the probiotic too. Get a probiotic that has to be refrigerated.
Nancy Ok. So you took one entire box. That helps. He is taking a probiotic called Align but it isn’t refrigerated.

1 ReactionI have used align didn’t change anything but my friends doctor recommended align ....it just doesn’t have as many things in it. When you run out get Renew Life ultimate flora...yes I took one entire box just checked to see and I have one box left. Hope he goes back and tries it again...let me know. I think I mixed mine in a small I glass blender. I hated it but oh well it was worth it for me.
